It is also linked to increasing young children's cultural awareness and understanding its differences. Music and Dance: Music is significant for all areas of child development and skills for the school readiness. It stimulates motor skills, language and overall literacy. It helps the body and the mind work together. Exposing children to music during early development helps them learn the sounds and meanings of words. Dancing to the music helps children build motor skills while allowing them to practice self-expression. For children and adults, music helps strengthen memory skills. Yoga helps kids to develop body consciousness .It helps the children learn to manage stress through breathing, awareness and healthy movement. Yoga builds concentration and increases confidence enabling positive self-image. The children feel as a part of a healthy , non competitive group as well. Organic Gardening: Planning a garden, planting the seeds watering the plants and watching them grow gives kids a sense of purpose and responsibility. Most importantly, the self-esteem a child gets from eating a perfect tomato that he grew himself is priceless.
Cooking : is a basic life skill. Cooking teaches children basic math skills as well by doing something as simple as counting eggs or pouring water into a measuring cup. It also helps young kids explore with their senses. Bringing preschoolers into the kitchen to cook can help get them to open up to new tastes.
